About Me

Jovan Lacet: Lifelong Bostonian

With a wide variety of experiences across many fields, Jovan represents the boundless opportunities for our community when we work together and raise each other up. From Community Service in Dorcester and Roxbury to serving in the Marines, from his time as a Boston Police Officer to his illustrious legal career, Jovan has the experience and perspective the 12th Suffolk District needs now!

Education

A proud graduate of Hyde Park High School, Jovan Lacet would go on to earn his Bachelor of Arts Degree  at the University of Massachusetts at Boston, and a Juris Doctorate degree from Hofstra University School of Law, Hempstead, NY. 

Military Service

At the age of 18, immediately after graduating high school, Jovan joined the United States Marine Corps to protect and serve the community and country he loves. He was honorably discharged in 1987. 

Community Service

While attending UMass Boston, Jovan mentored at-risk youth in Dorchester, Mattapan, and Roxbury at the Roxbury YMCA. Many of these younger students were able to reorient themselves on the path to success with his support and their own hard work. Jovan later worked for the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services at Brighton Treatment Center as a youth counselor after he graduated from law school. Today, Jovan continues to work with young men and women from his past and to support youth in the community.

Law Enforcement Service

In June 1998 Jovan entered the Boston Police Academy, where he graduated in January 1999. He was immediately assigned to Boston Police District II, Dorchester. Jovan served the residents of Dorchester and the wider city of Boston with distinction and respect as a Police Officer until 2004.

Legal Experience

Attorney Jovan J. Lacet has diverse and extensive trial experience in State Court. For the past twenty-two years, he has continued his legal practice as a private attorney at The Law Offices of Jovan J. Lacet, and Boston Attorneys, LLC. He has extensive experience in Family, Divorce, Business matters, Wills, and Estate Planning. He has conducted many real estate closings, and has represented both Landlords and Tenants in Boston Housing Court. He has appeared with many clients as a criminal defense attorney and addition advocate for many victims of domestic violence.
